McLaren’s Fernando Alonso will miss the Monaco Grand Prix in May so he can compete in the Indianapolis 500.
Alonso will race for the Andretti team, also powered by Honda, and the car will feature McLaren branding.
The Spainard has the full support of McLaren to do so, who are facing a challenging season with engine supplier Honda.
McLaren are yet to decide and announce who will replace Alonso for the Monaco Grand Prix, however Alonso’s ex-teammate Jenson Button is a possibility.
