Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton believes that Ferrari is the fastest team in Formula 1, with Mercedes close behind after 5 days of pre-season testing.
Hamilton is looking to reclaim the title for a fourth time after losing out to former teammate Nico Rosberg last season.
Despite a complete change of regulations for 2017, Mercedes still remains the firm favourites to secure the Championship this year, with driver Valtteri Bottas setting the fastest time during the pre-season testing so far.
Ferrari has been on impressive form so far, with driver Kimi Raikkonen topping the timesheets for two of the four days testing last week.
Their reliability has been a notable part of testing so far, however Hamilton has named them the current front runners.
“Honestly I’ve not really been out and see too many cars. I saw today the Williams, but it was going slow,” Hamilton told American media.
“But just on times, it looks like the Ferrari’s might be quickest I think.
“And maybe we’re close with the Red Bulls behind.
“So yes, I’m excited to see how it evolves over the next days.”
Williams’ Felipe Massa set the fastest time today [Tuesday 7th] in Barcelona, with Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo coming in second, followed by Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel.
