Rising British racing star Lando Norris will take part in a Formula 1 test in 2017 after winning the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award.
The 17-year-old up-and-coming driver has taken Championships in both the Eurocup and NEC Formula Renault 2.0 Series in 2016, and also secured the Toyota Racing Series title.
Norris is set to move to the FIA F3 Championship next season, which has recently helped launch the careers of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Esteban Ocon, who will drive for Force India in 2017.
Norris was shortlisted for the award alongside four others, and was then named as the victor of the award last Sunday at the annual Autosport Awards.
The award will see the youngster receive a test drive in F1 with McLaren in 2017.
Other Formula 1 successes who have won the award include: David Coulthard , Jenson Button and Paul di Resta , hinting at a possible bright future for Norris.
“I’m honestly overwhelmed to win this prestigious prize that caps off an incredibly successful season for me,” Norris spoke.
“The McLaren prizes can only help me in my quest to ultimately reach Formula 1. It’s now my job to keep working hard and stay focused to achieve this goal.”
