Force India has confirmed that Manor’s Esteban Ocon will be driving for them in 2017.
The Frenchman will now join current driver Sergio Perez, replacing Perez’s current teammate Nico Hulkenberg who is moving to Renault next season.
Force India has described Ocon’s contract as a “multi-year contract, suggesting that the Frenchman is here to stay.
“I feel ready for this new opportunity,” said Ocon.
“I know the team quite well already because I was a test driver last year.”
Force India are engine customers of Mercedes, who has long-standing links with Ocon. Since his official debut after taking over from current Manor reserve driver Rio Haryanto, Ocon has become highly regarded in the paddock, seeing off competition from teammate Pascal Wehrlein.
This now means that Sauber, Haas and Manor are the only teams yet to confirm their full line-up for 2017, however Romain Grosjean is still under contract with the American team.
