Manor’s Pascal Wehrlein has reported that he is in talks with Force India regarding their vacant seat for next season.
The team currently has an opening alongside current driver Sergio Perez after Nico Hulkenberg announced his move to Renault next season.
Whilst talking to the German media at the DTM season finale last weekend, the German confirmed that he is one who could step up to replace Hulkenberg.
“Indeed, there’s a seat at Force India, and of course we’re in talks with them,” Wehrlein spoke.
“We’ll see how it will unfold. At the moment, I’m focused on doing the best possible job for Manor.
“We want to end the season on a high.”
The 21-year old driver went on to say that he is not surprised to see a seat open at Force India following the rumours that have been swirling around in the past few months.
“For me, it wasn’t a surprise that there would be an open seat at Force India. First there were rumours about Sergio, just after he had signed it focused on Nico. There’s no smoke without a fire.”
Wehrlein’s teammate Esteban Ocon has also reportedly been shown interest in by Force India, so it could come down to a battle between the two Manor drivers for the seat.
