Following an extensive medical examination by the FIA medical team, Fernando Alonso is deemed provisionally fit to compete in the Chinese Grand Prix this weekend.
However, the Spaniard will have to partake in further checks after the first practice session on Friday, to ensure that he is fir enough to complete the rest of the Grand Prix weekend.
After a potentially fatal crash in Melbourne, suffering from lung and rib injuries, Alonso was forced to sit out of the last Grand Prix at Bahrain.
If he does receive the all-clear from the medics, the McLaren driver will still hold his record of having competed in every single Chinese Grand Prix since it joined the racing calendar in 2004. After racing there for eleven years, Alonso has won twice, making him the only man other than Lewis Hamilton to have won more than once at Shanghai.
